What happened to Carolyn Harper? A wave of fear spreads among traumatized town residents after the high school girl’s disappearance. As the darkness lurking beneath everyday life gradually reveals itself, a sense of awakening overcomes the town’s teenagers and unusual coping techniques develop.
"A mix of coming of age with 'Twin Peaks'? This might be a good description for 'Knives and Skin'. It's a love it or hate it kind of case. Director Jennifer Reeder brings here a teenage story with strong influences from heady 1980s and 1990s movies, with strong David Lynch inspirations. The soundtrack is essential to dive into the narrative - which is a bit confusing, having disconnected and random sequences. Still, it's something that catches you despite the delirious and surreal events, it's a production worth watching. You must surrender to the plot to be able to enjoy it, as it's a nearly two-hour dedication. It's not a movie for everyone, especially if you're not used to David Lynch's cinema."
