Told largely in Pauli’s own words, My Name is Pauli Murray is a candid recounting of that unique and extraordinary journey.
"My Name Is Pauli Murray is a documentary that tells the story of Pauli Murray, a non-binary activist lawyer who formulated ideas that influenced the fight for gender equity and civil rights. In addition to practicing law, Murray wrote and taught Christian teachings. The film is signed by Julie Cohen and Betsy West, directors of the documentary 'The Judge', which tells the life story of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, an important figure in American history and heavily influenced by Pauli Murray. The first question the filmmakers faced when confronted with the project was: "Why didn't we know this person?". So they did everything as quickly as possible to tell Murray's story. For obvious reasons, Pauli was forgotten in history and the film is important to highlight the very important deeds of the activist to the world. In addition, his works are studied to this day and are important and extremely current topics to deal with, even so many years after his death in 1985."
