Blade is forced to team up with the very vampires he hates in order to overcome a new type of monster which threatens to eradicate both races.
"Guillermo del Toro's second foray into a Hollywood studio production (after his scabrous experience with 'Mimic') was, curiously, with a property drawn from Marvel Comics. 'Blade II' (also known as 'Blade II: Vampire Hunter' or 'Vampire Hunters II') sees its eponymous protagonist (Wesley Snipes) in an uncomfortable alliance with the Shadow Council to face a common enemy: the Reapers, a lethal race of vampires that attack both humans and their own species. Contrary to what happened with 'Mimic', Del Toro managed to imprint this 'Blade' sequel with a bit more of his characteristic aesthetic marks, in a story that fits well enough with his thematic interests, with an antagonist that seeks to escape his own decadence."
