After disappearing in a hurricane, local peasant Liborio returns as a prophet with healing powers. People begin to congregate by his side and move to the mountains to live in total freedom, but everything changes when the invading US Marines want to disarm and disband the newly-formed community.
"It is a biographical drama about the character known as Papá Liborio, a healer, prophet, and revolutionary of the Dominican Republic at the beginning of the XX century, who after getting lost for days after a hurricane in 1908, was found proclaiming himself a messenger of God with a messianic mission, and who between 1916 and 1922 faced the US occupation forces. 'Liborio' is interesting due to the mere story of its protagonist (played by Vicente Santos), and it is a film that plays more with the creation of a mystical atmosphere than with the tension around its character, so it does not fit with the typical Hollywood biopics, although it is no less fascinating. Selected at FICUNAM 2021."
