"TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the first completely animated film of the Ninja Turtles franchise, and it stands as one of the darkest iterations compared to those that came later. The story takes place at a time when the four turtles have distanced themselves after defeating their nemesis, the Shredder, but they must reunite to face an ancient threat. While aimed at a family audience, the film visually evokes the more mature origins of the characters in the comics, with action sequences inspired by Hong Kong martial arts films. It’s a good animated movie that has been overshadowed by other animated Ninja Turtles offerings but still has a lot to offer for fans."
