Experience the extraordinary sisterhood of three women who share one unbreakable bond in The Color Purple. This bold new take on the beloved classic is directed by Blitz Bazawule and produced by Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Scott Sanders and Quincy Jones.

"Although already adapted for the screen by Steven Spielberg in the '80s, 'The Color Purple' is back with a new musical interpretation (an adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name, actually). The story remains the same: Celie (Fantasia Barrino), a woman who has suffered greatly in life (including at the hands of an abusive husband), finds new meaning in her life thanks to Sofia (Danielle Brooks) and Shug (Taraji P. Henson). To be honest, the musical treatment of such a complex and painful story feels a bit off. However, the fact that there is a new version speaks to the importance and relevance of this story of loneliness, violence, and abuse, but also of solidarity, sisterhood, and hope."
