Why watch the movie Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry?
"It seems that in every corner of the world there are overly conventional expectations about love and sex, especially concerning women. Selected and acclaimed at various international festivals (including the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes), Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry is a Georgian film that follows a 48-year-old woman, Etero (Eka Chavleishvili), who faces daily comments about her singleness. She sharply opposes the societal—and patriarchal—norms that expect her to marry a man, but a fortuitous event opens her up to love... and causes her to wrestle with her freedom and expectations. Filled with tender eroticism and very subtle comedy, this is an excellent film for reflecting on the dominant expectations about romantic love."
