Why watch the movie Portrait of a Certain Orient?
"Portrait of a Certain Orient is a film that resembles the work of writer Milton Hatoum, author of the book that gave rise to the film -- it talks about family, origins, roots. And, more than that, it also carries all the social drama of its director, the always brilliant Marcelo Gomes. Here, we follow Emilie and Emir, Catholic brothers who flee to Brazil from a war in Lebanon. During the trip, Emilie falls in love with a Muslim merchant, Omar -- triggering unhealthy jealousy in Emir. A strong film that brings, above all, a powerful look at the people who formed Brazil."
