How do you know if God is inside you? Neimar likes to ask questions and to take what life gives him in this Mexican feature that observes him playing, selling food, looking after horses and preparing for First Communion, on a journey through light and darkness.

"The Realm of God (El reino de Dios) is a film by Mexican director Claudia Sainte-Luce (The Amazing Catfish), which fits into the coming-of-age conventions but within the framework of a small rural town in Mexico. Its protagonist is a boy, Neimar (Diego Armando Lara), excited about his upcoming first communion. However, various events in his life force him to abandon the naivety and innocence of childhood, towards the disillusionments of the adult world and to question everything he believed. It's a simple, subtly directed but powerful story about growing up and facing reality, that never falls into sentimentality."
