Why watch this film?
Grief stricken Róise lost her husband, Frank, two years ago. Her son, Alan, worries about her but the arrival of a mysterious dog seems to bring happiness to her life once more. Róise soon comes to believe that the dog is, in fact, Frank reincarnated. He has come back to be with her again… and to coach the local sports team…
"Róise & Frank is a sweet Irish dramedy whose premise is approached with sensitivity and a touch of eccentricity, far from absurdity. The story follows a woman, Róise (Bríd Ní Neachtain), who lives in depression and isolation after the death of her husband two years ago. However, when a dog crosses her path and insists on staying with her at home, she becomes convinced that it is his reincarnation, as it displays a similar personality and shares his love for hurling. Her son (Cillian Ó Gairbhí) becomes concerned about her mental health, but soon begins to accept that not everything in the world can be easily explained. While the film's premise could lend itself to absurd humor, it does not go in that direction. Instead, it uses the premise to tell a tender story about living through grief and learning to move forward in life, even through unconventional means."
