The Other Shape

The Other Shape (La otra forma) is a Colombian animated science fiction film that has won awards at festivals like Sitges – the most prestigious festival in the world for genre cinema. The story is set in a curious dystopian world, where humanity has created a square paradise on the moon. The only way to enter? Being square both in thought (meaning: not questioning anything) and in shape, so people distort their bodies into cubic forms. It’s an unapologetic metaphor and a sharp critique of conformity, with visually fascinating and fun production design that cleverly plays with shapes to build its narrative. Additionally, similar to films like Flow, it doesn’t rely on dialogue to tell its story.
