Why watch this film?
When a hostage rescue mission creates a new enemy, Capt. Guerrero and his elite soldiers must face an ambush by a criminal group.
"Counterstrike (Contraataque) is an interesting Mexican film due to its proposal and premise, as it’s an action film – a genre rarely made in Mexico. The plot follows a special forces soldier (Luis Alberti), who saves two women from being kidnapped by drug traffickers, which eventually pits him against a criminal group (led by the always brilliant Noé Hernández). The film revisits the old "narco cinema" style of Mexico (in the tradition of the Almada brothers' films), with strong performances from the cast (which includes Mayra Batalla among other big names) and well-executed action scenes within the current social context of Mexico, making it a solid entertainment product."
