FOOL IN A BUBBLE is a documentary film that explores the conflicts of white South African musician/poet Syd Kitchen.The film weaves Syd's past and present recording album in New York with South African musicians from Paul Simon's Graceland.Syd is an anomaly, embodying the struggle and bridge to freedom of South Africa.He is a legend with cult status in his hometown Durban who since the 1960s has collaborated with black,colored African artists.Unique to Syd are the challenges posed by his identity as a white South African.His life is full of stigma and identity fraught with irony and conflict.Syd has remained steadfast in his career despite challenges.This film conveys a message of hope through music, poetry and power of the human spirit to persevere and triumph.
