A cab driver finds himself the hostage of an engaging contract killer as he makes his rounds from hit to hit during one night in Los Angeles.
"In "Collateral" we have Tom Cruise in an unusual role for the actor: the villain – and when watching it, we realize that Cruise should appear as the antagonist more often, since it is one of his most interesting performances. Still, the star here is Jamie Foxx, who plays a cab driver caught in the middle of a whirlwind of murders over one night, and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. In addition, director Michael Mann (of "The Insider") knows how to build a thriller atmosphere with interesting twists. The editing by Jim Miller and Raul Rubell also helps a lot with the pace – and for that, it was also nominated for an Oscar."
