Inspired by the powerful true story of a young Ruth Bader Ginsburg (Academy Award® nominee Felicity Jones), On the Basis of Sex depicts a then-struggling attorney and new mother facing adversity in her fight for equal rights. When Ruth takes on a ground-breaking case, she knows the outcome could alter the courts' view of gender discrimination. Stronger together, Ruth teams up with her husband, Martin Ginsburg (Armie Hammer), to fight the case that catapults her into one of the most important public figures of our time.
"This biographical movie is already relevant right off the bat due to the identity of the subject of the biography, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who made history with numerous cases presented in front of the United States Court of Appeals, marking the fight for equal rights in the US - and, then, becoming only the second woman to join the Supreme Court of the country. ‘On the Basis of Sex’ takes a few poetic licenses, but has solid performances from its cast (especially Felicity Jones, from ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’), which includes big names such as Armie Hammer, Kathy Bates and Sam Waterston."
