A man recollects the love and pain he felt during an affair with a woman. Becker, our leading man, sees Franny, our leading lady, at a cafe. She tells him she no longer has a boyfriend. This launches Becker's memory into a detailed string of memories that led to him falling in love with her. The memories continue and painfully remind him of why he now hates her. He is troubled by the realization that he cannot shake his love for her and the hold she has on him.
