Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg star in this powerful film inspired by real events. When an airplane hits the World Trade Center on 9/11/01, 5 people become trapped in an elevator. Banding together, they fight all odds to try to escape the building’s collapse. As we learn their personal stories, we watch as their time together unfolds into a gripping tale of courage, faith, and the will to live.
"The terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001 changed the world. Nearly two decades later, fiction still strives to adapt and reproduce stories related to those events. One of those stories is precisely that of '9/11: The Rescue', a movie based on a play written by Patrick James Carson. Despite being a fictional event within a real story, the feature film seeks to be a tribute to the victims and rescue teams, with a cast of stars such as Whoopi Goldberg, Charlie Sheen and Luis Guzmán ('Narcos'). Curiously, Sheen is one of the defenders of the conspiracy theory that the World Trade Center was intentionally imploded - which caused controversy with relatives of the victims when this movie was released in the US. Unfortunately, the movie stumbles on the very low budget and technical quality, as well as the fact that it adds little to the tragedy. It's worth watching out of curiosity and for the direction that the careers of once so influential actors in Hollywood have taken."
