"Almost 30 years ago, director Ron Howard ("A Beautiful Mind") helmed "Backdraft," an action movie starring Kurt Russell and William Baldwin about two firefighter brothers facing off against a series of arson-set blazes. The sequel "Backdraft 2" arrives and, while it takes a bit by surprise, maintains the quality and emotion of the original installment. It is a dramatic thriller made entirely under Hollywood's narrative standards, managing to deliver several interesting action scenes. There is also a pleasant surprise, as part of the cast from the first installment returns, including Donald Sutherland and Baldwin himself."
