Why watch the movie Dolemite Is My Name?
"In the 1970s, cinema discovered the blaxploitation phenomenon - a subgenre of popular films made by and for African Americans in the US, but which eventually grew beyond the African American community. One of the great examples of this movement was 'Dolemite Is My Name', a crime film starring comedian Rudy Ray Moore that became a cult success. Now, none other than Eddie Murphy takes up the character in a Netflix exclusive production, in a feature that functions as a tribute to one of the actor's greatest influences. With a love letter to blaxploitation and Harlem (in a way, similar to Spike Lee in 'BlacKkKlansman'), 'Dolemite Is My Name' is perfect for nostalgic moviegoers, those who want to learn a bit more about African American culture, or Eddie Murphy fans who just want to have fun."
