Why watch the movie Atlantics?
"After trying her luck as an actress, Franco-Senegalese Mati Diop debuts as a screenwriter and feature film director with 'Atlantique', a fascinating and hypnotic drama with touches of suspense and surrealism, mixing themes such as love, duty and migration. Among other nominations and awards around the world, the film made history as the winner of the Grand Prix at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, making Diop the first African-descended woman to be awarded in the festival's history (and the first to have a work as part of the official selection)."
