When Bloomer learns that his mother-in-law has come to pay them a visit, his face assumes an expression of intense anxiety. Upon her arrival the good lady certainly makes good her reputation and impresses only too forcibly upon the household her remarkable strength of character and tireless energy. Bloomer at last becomes desperate end resolves to attempt every means of getting rid of her. He performs all manner of rude tricks upon the good lady, but they are all of no avail for she proves utterly impervious to injury. Bloomer is easily driven to cover from which he is finally compelled to sue for peace.
