"According to the original drama of the subscription streaming platform Apple TV+, 'The Banker' brings a star-studded cast, formed by Anthony Mackie (the Marvel hero Falcon) and Samuel L. Jackson (Mackie's companion in the MCU as Nick Fury) in a story based on facts, about two blacks who sought to finance the dreams of other African Americans - who, due to prejudice and social barriers, could not get credit - in Los Angeles in the 1950s. The feature also features Nicholas Hoult (the Beast of the most recent X-Men films), who together have a lot of energy on screen. The script does not innovate and is stuck in the traditional way of telling a story, but the good performances, the excellent reconstruction of the period and the competent direction of George Nolfi (‘The Adjustment Bureau’) compensate."
