Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida (Kelly Macdonald) defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse.
"Although 'Brave' is one of the most divisive entries in Pixar's filmography, it is a game-changer: it's the studio's first animated fairy tale, its first movie starring exclusively women, and at least partially directed by a woman (Brenda Chapman, director of 'The Prince of Egypt'). It is also one of the most technically innovative, as the level of detail to animate hair, fabrics and other textures required rewriting Pixar's animation software. On top of all that, at its core, it's a touching story about the relationship between a rebellious daughter and her stern mother, with which generations of viewers can relate."
