Elza, a wicked woman runs a daycare center and, in complicity with her easily dominated husband, exploits five children, making them beg on the streets of the city. Toquinho, not resisting the mistreatment, tries to escape several times, always being pursued and captured by Elza. One day, the girl meets old Gui, a kind and human soul. The two are so fond of each other that, for the first time, Toquinho knows love, kindness and friendship. However, Elza appears again and old Gui will struggle desperately to keep the girl's guardianship.
