Running with the Devil

"Inspired by director and screenwriter Jason Cabell's real-life experiences as a former Navy officer and member of the Anti-Drug Agency in Colombia, Running with the Devil is another one of those typical movies seen in Nicolas Cage's career in recent years - the so-called 'Cagenian' cinema. The plots are often absurd, the supporting actors are weak and inexperienced and nothing makes much sense. However, for those who like this type of movie, it's like finding an oasis in the middle of the desert. After all, Cage acts in his essence, with intense scenes that go beyond reality. Laurence Fishburne acts as the moral reserve of the feature film, keeping some sanity amid so many scenes that go beyond the obvious. Thus, 'Running with the Devil' is an action movie to embark on the idea, having fun and willing to set aside absurdities of direction and script. After all, what matters here is the experience as a whole and the new step in Cage's career."
