A psychological drama about a fighter pilot Major Grela, who lost in competition to become second in command, against his colleague from the past, Major Horycki. Horycki attracts Grela's wife and we see a rivalry of two pilots. In a background we see an everyday service of a jet fighter unit of the Eastern Bloc in late 1960s, with long sequences of fighter aircraft, mostly MiG-21s in flight.
