The Deputy Ending Explained and Movie Recap

Small, deadbeat towns have to be the perfect setting for a conspiracy to take place; add in a questionable man trying to solve a mystery with little to no help, and you get a plot that will satisfy most audiences. Matt Sukkar’s “The Deputy” is set in such a place, and despite what the IMDb ratings say, I personally think it’s a great thriller which does a very competent job of keeping your eyes glued to the screen. Duke Nicholson, as the protagonist, comes off as a very Ryan Gosling-esque “literally me” character, and despite his lack of courage, his character development throughout the film is something to marvel at.
