29 Years Later, Nicolas Cage's Insane Sci-Fi Action Masterpiece Still Holds Up

Have you ever wondered what happens when a movie throws subtlety out the window? Well, this insane '90s action-fest is your answer. This is not a "cop chases bad guy" situation; this sees the cop and bad guy take each other's identities, hamming it up to high heaven while doves, bullets, speedboats and blood all fly past the camera in slow motion. Face/Off is streaming for free on Pluto this month, so you absolutely must stop what you're doing and designate two hours to watch John Woo's cataclysm of majestic and balletic nonsense. The film stars John Travolta as Nicolas Cage, and Nicolas Cage as John Travolta. That's what the movie is.

‘Mission: Impossible’ Meets ‘Freaky Friday’ in Nicolas Cage's Bonkers Sci-Fi Actioner Now Streaming

There are action movies that feel polished and controlled, and then there’s this, which seems to wake up every morning and choose total insanity. John Woo’s 1997 thriller takes a premise that already sounds absurd on paper and somehow turns it into one of the most entertaining studio action films of the era. It’s stylish, ridiculous, emotional in a totally heightened way, and fully committed to every last dramatic beat. And now it's available to stream again. A lot of that fun in Face/Off boils down to John Travolta and Nicolas Cage(Leaving Las Vegas, Raising Arizona), who both understand the assignment completely. The movie gives them permission to go massive,

Quentin Tarantino Nearly Produced A Marvel Movie Based On A Scrapped Steven Spielberg Project

Written by Larry Hama and drawn by Gary Hallgren, Marvel Comics' limited series "Mort the Dead Teenager" ran for only four issues from 1993-1994. In an older interview with Ugo, Hama admitted that he came up with the property as a response to a call from his bosses to develop more comics that could be adapted into movies or TV shows. He felt that "Mort the Dead Teenager" was conducive to that and could be adapted on the cheap. "Mort the Dead Teenager," a horror/comedy comic book, follows the teenager Mort Graves after he died in a racing accident while trying to beat the wicked Lance Boyle in a

29 Years Later, Nicolas Cage’s Most Unhinged Action Thriller Is Free To Stream

There are action movies, and then there is Face/Off. This is the movie where Nicolas Cage and John Travolta literally swap faces and then spend the rest of the runtime trying to out-act, out-crazy, and out-movie-star each other. It should not work nearly as well as it does, and yet it absolutely rules. Directed by John Woo, the film follows FBI agent Sean Archer and terrorist Castor Troy as their identities get surgically switched in one of the wildest premises any major studio ever approved. What follows is a full feast of melodrama, slow-motion doves, and maximum-commitment action nonsense. And the good news? Kanopy will add Face/Off for free on
