30 years after her ‘X-Files’ episode was banned, Karin Konoval reflects on playing a monster under the bed: ‘I was squeamish about the gory bits’

The X-Files guest star Karin Konoval isn't surprised that people still talk about her memorable performance in "Home" three decades later. It's "a timeless, remarkable piece of filmmaking," she tells Gold Derby about the fan-fave episode that originally aired on Oct. 11, 1996. The Canadian-American actress played Mrs. Peacock, a quadruple-amputee matriarch who lived under the bed in her Pennsylvania home with her murderous, inbred children. Initially, Konoval had to watch the episode with "eyes closed through parts of it" because she was "squeamish about the gory bits." However, she still had a "huge appreciation and admiration for the story being told" and its underlying themes. Because of the grotesque nature of "Home,

Kerry Washington has quietly built one of Hollywood’s most consistent red carpet résumés, and the Academy Museum Gala has become a favorite showcase for her style. At last year’s event, she wore a black silk column gown with a fully beaded bodice from Armani’s spring 2013 collection, one of several vintage Armani moments of the night. Her fashion choices this year have been just as memorable. At the 2026 BAFTAs, she lit up the London red carpet in a navy blue Prada apron gown held together by sequin straps. More recently, she proved she’s never shy about a corset. At the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art’s opening

Kerry Washington's R-Rated, 108-Minute Thriller Is Officially Netflix's Biggest Streaming Hit

Ben Affleck has directed some standout films in his time, from "Argo" to "The Town." Unfortunately, despite boasting a solid cast that includes "Scandal" star Kerry Washington, his latest effort, "Animals," is a bit of a letdown. But that doesn't seem to have stopped Netflix users from streaming this crime thriller en masse, sending "Animals" to the top of the streamer's charts in the process. As well as directing, Affleck stars in "Animals" as lawyer and Los Angeles mayoral candidate Mark Kimball, who's sunk every penny he has into his election bid. Meanwhile his wife, Abigail Kimball (Washington) is having an affair with a hunky UCLA teacher played by Ray Fisher.
