Female-Driven Thriller ‘Cottontail’ to Star Breeda Wool and Natasha Halevi

Breeda Wool (pictured above in “The Walking Dead”) and Natasha Halevi (The Buildout) are set to star in the female-driven thriller Cottontail, reports Variety this morning. “When sisters Autumn (Halevi) and Summer (Leah Shannon) arrive after crossing state lines in search of abortion medication, Gwynnie (Wool) entangles them in a brutal psychological game that tests loyalty, survival and control.” Lee Arenberg (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) also stars. Wool should be familiar to genre fans, as she has appeared in numerous titles ranging from the all female-directed horror anthology, Xx to “The Walking Dead”. She also starred as Lou Linklatter in “Mr. Mercedes”. Said Wool, “I’ve always wanted to inhabit a character like Gwynnie Vail – feral, untethered and operating outside society’s rules. Breeda Wool and Natasha Halevi are set to lead Sander Gusinow’s female-driven thriller “Cottontail.” Wool stars as Gwynnie Vail, described as a “cunning escaped convict hiding out in a remote cabin near the Idaho–Oregon border.” Per the official logline, “When sisters Autumn (Halevi) and Summer (Leah Shannon) arrive after crossing state lines in search of abortion medication, Gwynnie entangles them in a brutal psychological game that tests loyalty, survival and control.” “I’ve always wanted to inhabit a character like Gwynnie Vail – feral, untethered and operating outside society’s rules,” said Wool. “’Cottontail” honors the slasher tradition while subverting it.” To Halevi, the film is “a sharp, multifaceted exploration of survival and sisterhood in a world that isn’t built for women.” Wool has had a number of prior on-screen credits, including “Mr. Mercedes,” “National Treasure: Edge of History” and “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.” She also recently guested on “NCIS.

"Not All New Actors:" Pirates Of The Caribbean 6's Returning Cast Members For "New Take" Teased By Franchise Producer

Pirates of the Caribbean franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer teases returning cast members in the upcoming sixth installment. The project has been in development since Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was in the works, but in light of Amber Heard's abuse allegations, Disney dropped the lead star, Johnny Depp, from the franchise. During Depp's defamation trial against Heard, the Jack Sparrow star expressed that he had no interest in returning. In an interview with ScreenRant's Ash Crossan for F1, which will be released on June 27, Bruckheimer offers an update on Pirates of the Caribbean 6's cast and the sequel's current status. The franchise producer revealed that they are still working on the script, which will be "a new take," but it won't be a brand-new cast. Bruckheimer confirmed that some members would return. The answer is… Logan Ramsey, the late, great character actor whose career spanned from 1948 to 1999 and who would have turned 104 on March 21, 2025. Star Trek fans will recall that Ramsey low-key chewed the scenery as Proconsul Claudius Marcus in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode “Bread and Circuses.” He’s the character who gave his slave, Drusilla (Lois Jewell), to Captain Kirk (William Shatner), so that Kirk could enjoy “some last hours as a man” before his execution.
