Why watch this film?
Sequel to 2010's 'Kick-Ass', based on the comic book series created by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. While the first installment shone for bringing one of the most acclaimed and controversial parodies of superheroes to the screen –at a time when movies about them weren't as common–, maintaining a delicate balance between humor and extreme violence; 'Kick-Ass 2' fails in this act of equilibrium. The acting work is solid, but the script isn't quite humorous enough, turning into a marathon of violence in which, however, Chloë Grace Moretz as Hit-Girl is the indisputable gem.

"Truth or Dare" is a typical American slasher horror movie - one of those where a killer piles up victims without any mercy -, perfect if your goal is to scare yourself with the violent and inexplicable deaths of a group of teenagers. So get the popcorn ready to watch and turn off the lights... or not.
Fantasy Island
It's hard to say what the goal of 'Fantasy Island' is. Is it to scare? Is it to make you laugh? Is it to be some kind of alternate fantasy? There are many possibilities for interpretation of this feature film by Jeff Wadlow (‘Truth or Dare’), which adapts the classic homonymous series from the 1970s and 1980s to the big screen. And that is perceptible in the filmmaker's own filmography, which he has commanded with bestial comedy (‘The True Story of a False Killer’), sports movie (‘Breaking Rules’), sequels of celebrated films (‘Kick-Ass 2’) and a teenage horror (‘Truth or Dare’). ‘Fantasy Island’ seems like a big mix of all of this. There's chasing, there's zombies, there's alternate reality, there's cheesy twists, there's jumpscares to scare groups of teenagers. A mishmash. The fact is that this is a production that has not been taken seriously since its conception, even with a strong cast (Michael Peña, Lucy Hale, Michael Rooker) and, in the same way, should not be taken seriously by the audience. Those who don't mind plot holes, shortcuts, exaggerated moments and silly things that come up can have fun and wonder: what would my fantasy be?
The Curse of Bridge Hollow
Although the first impression is that this is a suspense or horror movie, the result is a family comedy that will be more than welcome in all Halloween marathons. Marlon Wayans ('White Chicks') stars in the film, guaranteeing laughs every scene. 'The Curse of Bridge Hollow' is directed by Jeff Wadlow, from 'Kick-Ass 2' and 'Truth or Dare', in another sign that suspense plots with touches of irreverence are his thing.
Imaginary
The premise of Imaginary is intriguing: a woman (DeWanda Wise) moves in with her partner and young stepdaughter to the house where she grew up. There, the daughter discovers a small teddy bear, Chauncey, to which she develops an abnormal attachment. However, Chauncey soon reveals itself to be much more sinister than a harmless teddy bear. The concept allows the film to offer some effective scares, but given the superficiality with which it addresses it in the plot, it fails to transcend among the heap of horror movies released month after month. One of the weakest efforts from the Blumhouse studio.

Bloodsport
Jean-Claude Van Damme makes his starring debut in the descriptively titled Bloodsport. An American soldier at large in Hong Kong, Van Damme becomes involved in the Kumite, a highly illegal kickboxing competition. Whoever survives the bout will be crowned Kumite champion of the world…a title that has plenty of challengers with homicide in their hearts. The finale offers a duel to the death between Van Damme and reigning Kumite king Bolo Yeung. The script is based on the real-life exploits of martial arts champ Frank Dux, who serves as the film's fight coordinator.
