Why watch this film?

Director Claudio Giovanesi adapts a text from the famous Italian mafia expert Roberto Saviano for the movie 'Pirañas: Los niños de la Camorra' to show us once again how this Camorra problem can be something very local, but also a bitter reflection of a reality that plagues not only Italy but many other places in the world, where youth seem to get lost in the path of violence. This film was premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in Panorama section and has had a wide acceptance in the film festival world. The movie presents us the story of Nicola (Francesco Di Napoli), a young man looking for a new chance to grow up and escape the precarious situation he lives in with his mother and brother. The problem is that the only way out of this dilemma is to accept a job within the Camorra. Thus, this boy and his group of friends gradually sink into this underworld of the mafia that will lead them on a path of violence, power, ambition and territorial fights that will leave them without an exit. Such a local story makes us a universal portrait of a youth lost in violence.
