Why watch this film?

Curiously based on a Twitter thread, 'Zola' is the face of A24's independent cinema. With a plot completely based on the road movie form, it tells the story of a stripper named Zola who embarks on a wild trip to Florida full of mistakes, misalignments and chaos - reminiscent of the Coen brothers' situational comedy. Despite the good humor of many moments, 'Zola' still stays in line by pointing some fingers at everyday situations, maintaining the charm and aesthetics of the feature film - so important for the necessary creation of atmosphere. Absolute highlight for the performances of Taylour Page ('The Supreme Voice of Blues') and Riley Keough ('American Honey'). They did not deserve the snub they received from the 2020 awards.
