Why watch this film?

Re-makes can raise many questions and controversies. However, it cannot be denied that they also open up space for new generations to get to know stories that captivated in the past. This is the case of 'Home Sweet Home Alone', an exclusive Disney+ production that is a 2020 version of the already classic and beloved comedy 'Home Alone', from 1990. Directed by Dan Mazer ('Tirando o Atraso'), the new feature film has a certain acidity that the original did not have, while softening some other passages - which may be good for those who criticize the violence of the original. The little Archie Yates, who became known for playing Yorki in 'Jojo Rabbit', has the mission of replacing Macaulay Culkin - and he does it with skill and grace. Otherwise, it's the same: a remake that follows the original step by step, keeping a very similar story, just with changes here and there. Older generations, people who witnessed the premiere or grew up watching 'Home Alone', may be disappointed as they weave more comparisons. However, 'Home Sweet Home Alone' can be a good way for the little ones, who do not know the wonders of the 1990s, to get into this story.
