Why watch this film?

"Yalda: A Night of Forgiveness" is a distinctive and provocative Iranian film that focuses on the discussion of two topics: television shows and the fog that covers human rights in Iranian society. We follow Maryam (Sadaf Asgari), who is sentenced to death for killing her husband - although in a dubious situation that leaves room for interpretation. To avoid this death sentence, she decides to participate in a television show, in the style of "The Jerry Springer Show". But instead of DNA tests, the presenter promotes reconciliations in such situations. Will the daughter of the murdered man forgive Maryam? It is from this doubt and perspective that we plunge into a plot that brings provocations and, at a slow pace, presents some rather worrying details of Iranian society.
