Winner of the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 2020 Berlin Film Festival, this movie could be described as the "Camille Claudel" equivalent for naive painter Antonio Ligabue: a biographical drama that encapsulates the complicated life of an artist crucial to his period, although marginalized in its time. "The Solitary Life of Antonio Ligabue" explores his years of poverty, as well as his search for meaning and redemption through painting. Visually it is not a production that stands out above average biographical dramas, but the lead performance by Elio Germano is not to be missed.

Kidnapped
In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.

'Green Border' - In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko.
