Why watch this film?

"Robert the Bruce," directed by Richard Gray, tells the story of the Scottish nobleman-turned-outlaw hero who was crowned king of Scots in the 14th century. While the film is inspired by epic real-life events, it falls short in terms of pacing and storytelling. Despite rich cinematography and the best of intentions, the film fails to engage the audience due to its leaden pace and bland storytelling. The film follows King Robert the Bruce as he is injured and on the run from the English army. A widow and her family nurse him back to health and join him as he sets out to claim the long-awaited freedom of Scotland. The film features a talented cast, including Angus Macfadyen, Jared Harris, and Zach McGowan, but their performances are not enough to save the film. Overall, "Robert the Bruce" is a disappointing historical drama that fails to deliver on its promising premise.
