Why watch this film?

Director Céline Sciamma ('Portrait of a Lady on Fire') returns to bring a story with a child's eye - something already seen in the brilliant 'Tomboy' from 2011. Sciamma always seeks to explore narratives focused on women and this is the great differential of her works, which bring an authenticity and delicacy. 'Petite Maman' is a sensitive film about grief with the perspective of Nelly, an eight-year-old girl who has just lost her grandmother. One day her mother, Marion, disappears and she meets a girl, also named Marion. Gradually she discovers that the child is actually the younger version of her own mother. In a very poetic way, Céline Sciamma speaks about time travel while showing us how grief is different for each person.
