It's an action and suspense thriller, with an obviously limited budget but a good story. "Take Back" is about a couple, Brian and Zara, who lead a quiet life until she heroically foils a robbery, which brings them a lot of sudden attention and resurfaces her past. Then, their daughter is kidnapped by a sadistic trafficker from Zara's past, so the couple embarks on a mission to rescue her before it's too late. As a thriller it's very conventional, but it is enjoyable due to the work of the cast, which is curiously led by a real-life couple, Michael Jai White and Gillian White, in addition to Mickey Rourke.

Jean-Claude Van Damme makes his starring debut in the descriptively titled Bloodsport. An American soldier at large in Hong Kong, Van Damme becomes involved in the Kumite, a highly illegal kickboxing competition. Whoever survives the bout will be crowned Kumite champion of the world…a title that has plenty of challengers with homicide in their hearts. The finale offers a duel to the death between Van Damme and reigning Kumite king Bolo Yeung. The script is based on the real-life exploits of martial arts champ Frank Dux, who serves as the film's fight coordinator.

With shades of Dan Brown and a script by Jean Claude Van Damme himself, alongside Les Weldon (screenwriter of another action star film, Replicant), the movie is what every fan of the Belgian actor wants: brawling, with a fun plot, and never boring.
