Plot summary
In Portugal - one European country in crisis- a film director proposes to build fictional stories from the miserable reality he is immersed in. However, failing to find meaning in his work, he cowardly runs away and leaves the beautiful Scheherazade to stand in his shoes. She will require enthusiasm and courage so as not to bore the King with sad stories of this country.

The movie - the second part of a trilogy - brings three tales, all with a social criticism and portraying our everyday life. The result is quite interesting and timely for present times.
Tabu
A two-part story, signed by acclaimed director Miguel Gomes, which, if we could compare it to literature, would be a poem. There is visual beauty, a beautiful black and white aesthetic, and a screenplay that does not worry about being too clear about what it is telling, but its beauty lies precisely in that. A mysterious and engaging feature film.
The Tsugua Diaries
The premise of 'Diários de Otsoga' is quite simple: Crista, Carloto and João build a butterfly garden together. It is from this that directors Miguel Gomes and Maureen Fazendeiro construct a plot that straddles the line between fiction and documentary as it speaks of the routine of these three friends in an environment that is revealed and transformed, much like a caterpillar in a cocoon to become a butterfly. Sensitive and with an increasingly unexpected depth, 'Diários de Otsoga' convinces with its simplicity and performances that bring the necessary naturalness to a film that speaks of such banal, yet still extraordinary, aspects of everyday life. A movie to watch, be inspired by and, of course, reflect.

Kidnapped
In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.
Green Border
'Green Border' - In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. In an attempt to provoke Europe, refugees are lured to the border by propaganda promising easy passage to the EU. Pawns in this hidden war, the lives of Julia, a newly minted activist who has given up her comfortable life, Jan, a young border guard, and a Syrian family intertwine.
