WarGames

A teen hacker plays a game that could start WWIII

Trailer

Why watch this film?

A boy, with a computer, is able to disrupt the balance of the world right in the middle of the Cold War. In a few words, that's how you can describe 'WarGames', a movie that shot Matthew Broderick to stardom years before he enjoyed his teenage years. Directed by John Badham ('Saturday Night Fever'), we have a teen thriller with the right amount of suspense, plus all that atmosphere from the first half of the 80s, which is now famous in series like 'Stranger Things'.

Plot summary

A bored teenager accidentally taps into the Pentagon's top-secret computer...the USA's NORAD system. He starts what he innocently believes is a computer game called "Global Thermonuclear War," but the "game" is real. The Pentagon's best minds cannot shut down or reprogram the supercomputer that is readying a missile attack against the USSR, and thereby unleash Armageddon. The teen and his girlfriend attempt to aid the helpless Pentagon and, in a frantic race against a ticking "doomsday clock," try to persuade the computer to end the "game."
