Why watch this film?
Directed by the great Orson Welles, 'Touch of Evil' is the last great film of mid-20th century film noir, and it's one of the best from both its director and its genre, even though it wasn't well received at the time. The movie starts with a continuous three-minute shot, considered one of the best tracking shots in all of film history.

The Other Side of the Wind
Orson Welles was one of the most important names in American entertainment, responsible for the famous adaptation of 'War of the Worlds' on the radio (the one that some claim caused a collective hysteria) and the classic 'Citizen Kane'. Between 1970 and 1976, Welles focused his efforts on 'The Other Side of the Wind', a film about a director (played by John Huston, of 'The Treasure of the Sierra Madre') who strives to complete his last feature. With life imitating art, the filmmaker was unable to finish the production due to various problems, including legal issues - the Shah of Iran was one of the financiers and his regime was deposed by the revolution led by Ayatollah Khomeini. After 33 years since Welles' death, Netflix acquired the rights to the film to launch it on the platform. A unique opportunity for cinephiles to finally watch a lost chapter of the seventh art. Watch it together with the documentary 'I'll Be Loved When I Die', also available on Netflix.
Citizen Kane
When they say that 'Citizen Kane' is the best movie ever made, the critics are not exaggerating. Sure, you may turn up your nose at it being an old black and white movie - and for many, a classic cult film is synonymous with "boring". But none of that applies to this masterpiece by Orson Welles. In his first feature film, the communicator and filmmaker (who, in addition to directing, also stars in the production) imprints a story with a modern rhythm and a flawless cinematographic language, in an investigation of the life of the titular character that involves the spectator. Credit also goes to screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz (in the story told in the Netflix movie 'Mank'), who was inspired by William Randolph Hearst to create a story of intrigue, politics, success and failure that goes to the heart of post-1929 America. No wonder 'Citizen Kane' is still referenced today, whether in series or comedy productions: it's the go-to movie for any cinephile.

In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.
Green Border
'Green Border' - In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. In an attempt to provoke Europe, refugees are lured to the border by propaganda promising easy passage to the EU.
