Why watch this film?

Actress Florence Pugh gained worldwide recognition for her roles in major productions such as 'Little Women', 'Black Widow' and 'Midsommar'. However, her first big role undoubtedly was 'Lady Macbeth', an adaptation of 'Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk' by Russian writer Nikolai Leskov -- which has nothing to do with Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'. One of the best movies of the 2017 releases, the feature film impresses as it tells the story of a woman (Pugh) trapped in a marriage of appearances. Her life begins to change when she starts a romance with a worker from her property and sets off a series of crimes around her. With a consistent performance by Pugh, 'Lady Macbeth' perfectly transitions between sensuality, drama and a powerful crime story.
