The story takes place right after World War II, so its horrors are always present in the plot. With stunning black and white photography and outstanding performances, '1945' goes beyond the usual stories of Nazism to explore the lives of those who took advantage of the Holocaust to survive. Despite being set more than seventy years ago, this movie is a necessary mirror for our days of intolerance and opportunism. It's no wonder it was selected for the prestigious Berlin Film Festival.
