Papillon

Wrongfully convicted man forms unlikely bond to escape from Devil's Island

Trailer

Why watch this film?

Papillon - or Henri Charrière - was a Frenchman who, according to himself, was wrongfully convicted of murder and sent to prison in French Guiana, more precisely on Devil's Island, in the 1930s. From there, a story of suffering, relationship with other inmates and various attempts at escape begins, which would later result in the book 'Papillon' - the very inspiration for this movie, starring Rami Malek ('Bohemian Rhapsody'). The oldest will also remember that, in the 1970s, the story was already adapted to the cinema, bringing Steve McQueen in the title role. Although it doesn't have the same quality as the first adaptation, the new 'Papillon' is a great story of overcoming and escape.
