Why watch this film?
Based on the novel 'Dancing on the Edge of the Roof' by Sheila Williams, 'Juanita' is a road movie that distances itself from the traditional Hollywood formula to focus on the story of an atypical protagonist: a single African-American mother played by the extraordinary Alfre Woodard ('12 Years a Slave'), who alone makes the movie worth it. Moreover, it is a sensitive and engaging story, a real surprise from director Clark Johnson, more focused on crime and action in productions such as 'Luke Cage' and 'Orange is the New Black'.
