Why watch this film?
From director Justin Chadwick ("Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom"), "Tulip Fever" is a period drama that can boast excellence in two things: its production design and great performances from an all-star cast: Alicia Vikander ("Ex-Machina"), Christoph Waltz ("Inglourious Basterds"), Dane DeHaan ("Limitless"), and Judi Dench ("Victoria & Abdul"). Its plot gets complicated more than is necessary, but if you're into period dramas and are also interested in the peculiar period of tulip mania, this is an entertaining entry point.
