Just Mercy

A civil rights lawyer fights to free a death row inmate wrongly convicted of murder.

Why watch this film?

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (of the biographical drama 'The Glass Castle'), 'Just Mercy' is a dramatization of the historic true case of Walter McMillian, wrongly convicted to death for murdering a white woman, thanks to a false testimony. If you are familiar with the case, it is needless to say where the story ends, so we have no doubts that it will be something predictable. However, the movie has a highly relevant message of empathy and, similar to the contemporary legal drama 'Marshall: Equality and Justice', provides strong performances from an A-list cast, led by Michael B. Jordan ('Creed') and accompanied by Brie Larson ('Room'), Jamie Foxx ('Ray') and Tim Blake Nelson ('The Ballad of Buster Scruggs').
