Why watch this film?

Second appearance of Pierce Brosnan in the 007 franchise, firmly establishing his version of the character in the popular imagination. First feature produced after the death of the producer of the classic films of the franchise, Albert R. Broccoli, 'Tomorrow Never Dies' continues the process of updating James Bond for the post-Cold War world. Here, the villain is a media baron who wants to manipulate the news for his own benefit - an anticipation of what we now call fake news, although in the film the actions are very real. In this attempt, unfortunately, the script goes off tone, with a story that sounds silly at times. Still, we have a great Jonathan Pryce ('The Two Popes') as the villain of the plot.
