Why watch this film?
What a powerful, mature, and disturbing movie 'Dronningen' is, the Danish production directed by May el-Toukhy. In the plot, with strong Freudian inspirations, we follow the relationship between Anne (Trine Dyrholm) and Gustav (Gustav Lindh). He is a young and somewhat immature boy. She is an older, mature woman and Gustav's stepmother. From there, we follow this forbidden relationship, behind the father and husband's back, unfolding in the family home. With a powerful performance by Dyrholm (from 'Nico, 1988' and 'The Commune'), the feature film brings up powerful questions about morality and the limits of relationships, while provoking and stimulating the viewer - including some explicit scenes. A strong, mature movie that doesn't leave the viewer unaffected.
